Hi ppl this is Bok Woon's Group here (actually its just Bok Woon himself) & we are going to post about our trip to Lor Buangkok (not 'Bangkok') & Geylang Serai Market. For my Group, we did our interview part in Lor Buangkok. We were given some questions to ask the interviewed person.

Name:
Absah
Age:
76
Occupation:
Never worked.
Education:
Never went to school
How long has she stayed in the Kampong:
About 50 years (pretty old)
Family members:
8 children + Mother + Father(passed on)only youngest son stays in the Kampong; the rest moved out (sad)
Why does she stay there:
Last time very few flats. Anyway, she prefers the Kampong. (incredible)
How was the Kampong like last time:
There used to be a river but then grew plants became a forest. (wow)
How was your childhood like:
Used to live in the Kampong in Telok Kurau. Like to collect things from the sea. Some can be eaten. (Jellyfish?Sharks?Loch Ness?)
Any major happenings in the Kampong?
2 of them: Once there was a big flood that was up to the neck; another time there was a big snake (10m) outside her house. In the end, it was captured.
How do people treat one another in the Kampong:
They are very close to one another (not that the land very small) as there are very few of them. Whenever there is a funeral, everyone will rush over to help.
Rental amount in the Kampong:
$10! Water & electricity bills about $100.
Any supernatural happening in the Kampong:
Not at all (surprising). However, people did go over there to film a horror movie before. Other than that, nothing else. No beliefs/ rituals either.
Any changes to the Kampong:
last time there was no drain, so when the rain came, it flooded the place.
Anything that remains the same after all these years:
Everything is pretty much the same, except for the rising food prices.

Well, that's about it. Anyway, we also had to do some boring pre-trip thoughts & post-trip reflections (zzz...)

PRE-TRIP THOUGHTS:
The whole place would be outdated, with stray animals straying around. The place would also be very dirty with small houses filled with wood. The air would be filled with insects, & there would be a language barrier. It is very likely that we would despise to live in such conditions, more comfortable in our own homes.

POST-TRIP THOUGHTS:
The place is almost what we imagined it would be like. We also had an eye-opening experience & we learnt how the people living in the Kampong deal with daily problems like snakes. Although it would be tough for us to live in the Kampong due to the inconveniences, we don't really have to pity the people living in the Kampong. Actually, They prefer to live in the Kampong, since they're used to life in the Kampong. Anyway, this trip was interesting & well worth it!

ps: the pics come some other time... i ghot some problem uploading the pics...
