Book Review

Hi all,
I would like to share with you the book I have read.
INDONESIAN CUSTOMS & ETIQUETTE
A Practical Handbook

The author of this book is Matthew Mendelsohn. You can find out more about him at the back of the book.

This book talks about the customs & etiquette of Indonesia, such as:
- Indonesia from the colonial times to the present
- The geography
- The various regions
- The races & religions
- The people
- The language
- The social interaction
- Births
- Weddings
- Funerals
- The culture
- The food & drinks
- Travelling in indonesia
- Business etiquette

For example, the book states that government policies have traditionally encouraged families to limit themselves to 2 children, but many have at least 3.
Tujuh Bulanan(Seven Month of Pregnancy)
Family, friends & neighbours are invited to the house for a small prayer ceremony in hopes that the baby will be healthy.
Akekah(40 Days Within Birth)
Muslim parents sacrifice 2 goats(for a male child) or 1 goat(for a female child) in thanksgiving. this sacrifice is followed by a prayer and the meat is distributed to orphaned children.

I think this book is worth reading as it is interesting and useful. You should read it.
